I noticed recently that the purple sprouting broccoli was beginning to get a darned good beaking from the local pigeon population. I have a series of mesh covered frames that surround the strawberries in the summer to keep the blackbirds' beaks off. I moved these to the broccoli patch and brought back a couple more from the allotment. They will now allow the hearts of the plants, already forming, to fill out ready for the dinner plate.
Yum!

and when you don't need to protect the PSB, a quick and temporary chicken run whilst you're cleaning out the main one?
You're there before me Bilbo!
