We spent Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (returning early Friday morning) in the west of Ireland with some friends to have a good look at the spring plants there. It's an area of limestone pavement and the wild flowers are just fantastic. The large cracks between the flat slabs of limestone (the grikes) are sheltered habitats for some wonderful flowers, far too many pictures to show here.
This is the Dense Flowered Orchid - a first for everyone on the expedition.
I love this view. The limestone pavement goes right down to the Atlantic and here the grikes are filled with sea pinks.
The Cliffs of Moher are spectacular and there is a first class visitor centre there which must help to protect the cliffs from the erosion of so many visitors' footsteps. It was quite squally when we were there - it must be really great on a clear day.
